24 Hours in Caen
We took a train from Paris to Caen. It was just a couple of hours and a comfortable ride. How did we choose to go to Caen? Well, it was a convenient train ride that required no transfers and it got us into the Normandy region, which was a goal because we wanted to ultimately make it to Mont Saint Michel. Though I wouldn't say that Caen was all that amazing, it was a cute city with just enough to see and do to occupy one day.
We stayed at the Best Western in the city center. The hotel was nothing special but it was clean and comfortable. For lunch, we went to Monsieur Louis where we shared a foie gras appetizer to start. For my main, I got a scallop dish. J got duck. After lunch, we walked around the city. We went to the Men's Abbey, St. Peter's church, the Caen Castle, the Women's Abbey, and Rue Vaugeaux.
Before dinner, we went to Louma for drinks. It was a cute little bar with pretty delicious drinks. We also got some fries to snack on.
For dinner, we went to Boeuf & Cow, where we shared three huge steaks as part of a l'entrecote tasting menu. It was so much food, but we ended up taking the leftovers with us and enjoyed them the next day.
Despite the surplus of meat, I still wanted dessert. We got Ferrero, which was a hazelnut and chocolate delight.
The next morning, we woke up and got some pastries for breakfast before grabbing our rental car and hitting the road.Le P'tit Chou Normand had the most delicious pastries. Their caneles were so good, the tart Normand made J mad because it was so yummy, the savory mini breads were so yummy too, everything was criminally good.
xoxo.
