Istanbul: Day 6

For our last full day in Istanbul, we decided to have a leisurely day of shopping and relaxing. We headed to Taksim Square and walked all the way down Istiklal Caddesi (known for shopping and bars) and then to the Galata Tower.

For dinner we went to Giritli, which was an amazing restaurant. It's a Greek restaurant (or maybe Crete?) with a prix-fixe menu with unlimited beer and wine for 105 TL (or $60ish, which is not bad at all). We were started off with a seafood orzo, then 15+ types of mezes, grilled octopus, calamari, and eggplant rollatini. Then I had the grilled sea bass while D had some other fish (I didn't catch the name) and then for dessert we were given something the waiter called "finger muffins" (which were like funnel cake bits) and sesame paste with apple. And to finish off the meal, we had a homemade strawberry liquor, which was super sweet and thick like jam, and apple tea. It was a fabulous farewell Istanbul dinner.
