Scotland 2025
J and I ventured out to Scotland in June. We booked through Icelandair and did the stopover thing in Reykjavik with the "main" destination being to Glasgow. We flew in, rented a car, drove immediately to Edinburgh, tried to stave off jetlag by walking around, and had a delicious dinner at Timberyard. The next morning, we spent a bit of time exploring the city before hopping in the rental and heading towards the Isle of Skye. On the way there, we stopped at a few sites, including Loch Ness. Once we got to Skye, we stayed at Duisdale House and explored the Highlands for two days - we went to Eilean Donan, Kilt Rock, the Talisker Distillery, Dun Beag Broch, and had dinner at the lovely Three Chimneys, where we were lucky enough to score seats at the chef's table in the kitchen. After a couple days in Skye, we drove back down to Glasgow, again, stopping at various sites along the way - this time I quite enjoyed the Three Sisters viewpoint - and then once we were back in the city, we had one of my favorite meals of the trip at Cail Bruich; it was delicious. Then it was back to Iceland to finish out the trip with our layover.
